Our Ottertails are registered with the AKC. They also have medical screenings to ensure healthy offspring. Hips, elbows, eyes, heart and other genetic tests are done. Links to clearances are available on their records page.

We breed to produce Labrador Retrievers that exhibit the traits they are known for; friendly, intelligent, alert, versatile dogs which are strong, balanced and athletic with a good temperament. Our goal is to improve our line. Each of our puppies has the potential to continue our breeding program. We may hold a pup or two for this purpose. A decision as to which pup we will keep is usually not made until they are at least 8-weeks old. Not all pups we hold back grow into the high standards of a responsible breeding program. These older pups become available. They are healthy, well cared for, up to date on all wellness checks/vaccines, house broken, socialized, crate trained and in need of a loving home.

Those pups we sell as pets go home with Limited AKC registration. We take steps to ensure our pups go to responsible, caring homes. Homes where they will receive the love and dedicated care that Labradors require. Potential puppy owners are required to fill out and return a questionnaire, visit with us and our Ottertails and sign and adhere to a contract. Visits are by appointment. We are happy to provide references from our previous puppy buyers.

We usually produce one or two litters annually and are planning a litter of puppies this spring (2025). The litter will be from JRM's Ottertail May West. The pups will all be chocolates and blacks.​​ If you are interested in our upcoming litter fill out the questionnaire provided in the link below and return it via email.
